Outdoor Spaces
Our design philosophy is one of creating Outdoor Spaces
similar to those found right in your home. Your outdoor space
as an extension of your indoor space so to speak. Trees become
ceilings, shrubs become walls, and patios become floors. As one
example, a patio may be an extension of your kitchen/dining area
because you will often cook and eat outside, maybe even under
a tree canopy, next to some shrubs. .

Creating a design is a process similar to that
of creating a cartoon in that it involves a series of layers.
The first phase of a design began with the homeowners needs and
wishes. Phase two begins the transfer of thoughts and ideas to
paper.

Arrangement
The New Leaf Landscaping Company believes that a well-designed
landscape should have a variety of plant material. We generally
try to implement a landscape that has interest throughout the year.
Plantings often include these guidelines for seasonal interest.
|
Spring
Hope springs eternal, the most exciting time for a landscape.
Shrubs provide most of the interest and often the most fragrance
from April – June
|
Summer
The heat of the summer causes your perennials to explode
in color. Perennials provide the widest variety of shape,
size, and color for your garden. Perennial Prime Time is
May-August. |
|
Fall
While your garden may begin to hibernate, it will go out
with a bang! Fall is often a surprising time in your garden
where you find color in not just your trees, but shrubs
and perennials too. This is prime time for Ornamental Grasses. |
Winter
We’re all familiar with a Michigan winter. Your coniferous
shrubs and trees provide a solid foundation, but don’t
forget the broadleaf evergreens such as Rhododendron, Daphne,
and Holly! For an added bonus check out those Ornamental
Grasses under a fresh blanket of snow |

5 Year Plan
Landscaping is a vital element in the overall appearance of your home.
It is no less important than the selection of a siding material, a roof,
or even a driveway. As with many of those elements, landscaping can be
costly. A landscape design will offer you a number of alternatives in
that unlike an Architectural Drawing, a Landscape Design can be implemented
in stages. We often recommend having a design for what you would like
to see done with your site over the next five years and our designer can
give you options for implementing your design in phases according to your
budget.
